As another tribute to Lorenzo de’ Medici – the most powerful and enthusiastic patron of the Italian Renaissance, known as “the Magnificent” – Visconti created an 188-piece limited edition that celebrates his political, social and cultural influence over much of the ancient world. With eight facets like the sides of the Florentine baptistery, Il Magnifico pens feature a sterling silver cap and blind cap, finely engraved with lily flowers – the symbol of Florence – and a solid green marble barrel. The Il Magnifico collection evokes the dramatic marble façades of Florence’s most beautiful churches, such as the city’s Cathedral or Santa Maria Novella, and their traditional colors, from Florentine red marble in the first edition to serpentine green marble in the current edition.
